Valar Toygurlis

The image above was posted earlier today, and it's an image that I along with many fans of MOTUC knew would come. I don't think anyone in 2008 would have thought that beyond the initial lineup of the core characters (He-Man, Skeletor, Mer-Man...) we would get a Clamp Champ or a Modulock. But the line has gotten to a point where we have them and we have gotten so much more than that. Heck who would've thought any of the New Adventures characters would ever see the light of day again.
For the next subscription year only so many of the original vintage roster remains. Either Squeeze or Tung-Lashor will be made this year and the other is left for 2015. Two of the movie characters are left, Saurod and Gwildor (shudder...).  Rotar and his counterpart Twistoid are probably going to be made into a 2-pack either this year or next as well. Knowing that the line will finish off the unique characters of the vintage line, next years subscription may be the clearest yet, no Fighting Foe Men curve balls can be thrown. To me that's always been the key detraction from this line, the uncertainty of WHO you get each year. Granted I did sign up in the last two years after missing out on characters like Fisto and The Sorceress. I knew that I didn't have much more time to subscribe if I wanted New Adventures He-Man or Mantenna (ironically I got both in the first year I subscribed).
Endings are always sad for lines like this, for all the swapped joints and Ruebenizations of past releases, this line did receive love from the fans all the same. I can't fault Scott too much because deep down, I'm sure he wants all these figures as much as any fan.
A part of me is glad that this line will have an end, I'd rather it go out with a bang of finishing the vintage line than to jump the shark and include characters like Butt-Head or Dragoon in the 2019 subscription. Now I'm sure that this won't be the last we see of the Masters of the Universe, without MOTUC it will live on in the DC comic title and possibly a new film (if that ever comes together). SDCC is also another route for MOTUC, maybe it can live on in some respects as a convention toyline. With all that said, I don't think MattyCollector could end any toyline as badly as they did for DCUC or JLU again.

Dc Collectibles : Deadshot (Suicide Squad)

I've failed this city blog... It's been quite awhile but I'm still kicking. I graduated from school last week and the weeks leading up to that I had piles of work to do... but that's all over now.

Plastic Bell Reve
Straight from Bell Reve it's everyone's favorite wrist-gunslinging, thick mustache wearing, Flava Flav impersonator Deadshot!
This is one nice figure and one that I'm a little surprised we got. If I was told that Dc would make three Deadshots within this short of a time frame, I wouldn't have believed it. This is the first comic inspired Deadshot since the DCUC figure from Mattel. This is the characters new look in the current Suicide Squad comics. I am fan of the 1980's series and when they made this as one of the 52 in the relaunch I was excited. I'm still on the fence on what's been done to Amanda Waller.
I wonder what this does?
Deadshot is my favorite Dc villain and he's really evolved as a character since his first appearance in Detective comics in the 50's, as Deadshot has been the star of all the different Suicide Squad series. The character has had a few different looks throughout his long history, but all have been largely similar. The character has made several appearances in the CW show Arrow played my actor Michael Rowe. One difference between the screen and comic is that in the comics Floyd Lawton has both eyes while in the show he has an eye patch and a Steve Austin eye.
This is an articulated figure and as far as I'm concerned is only missing one point of articulation, an ab crunch. The sculpt of the figure would have likely been hurt if one had been put in so I can accept it's absence. My favorite part of this figure is the shoulder pads, as much as I don't care for their design, the fact that they can move to help the flow of articulation makes them far less obtrusive then on first inspection. The figure even comes with a huge gun with not one but two sights!

I haven't picked up the other two in this series but I'm sure I'll get around to it eventually. Amanda Waller is the figure I'd want want to see if another "wave" from this comic was produced. With all of her appearances in Arrow, I think it's becoming more and more likely that it could happen (Granny Goodness still seems out of the realm of possibilities for now).
