Valar Toygurlis

The image above was posted earlier today, and it's an image that I along with many fans of MOTUC knew would come. I don't think anyone in 2008 would have thought that beyond the initial lineup of the core characters (He-Man, Skeletor, Mer-Man...) we would get a Clamp Champ or a Modulock. But the line has gotten to a point where we have them and we have gotten so much more than that. Heck who would've thought any of the New Adventures characters would ever see the light of day again.
For the next subscription year only so many of the original vintage roster remains. Either Squeeze or Tung-Lashor will be made this year and the other is left for 2015. Two of the movie characters are left, Saurod and Gwildor (shudder...).  Rotar and his counterpart Twistoid are probably going to be made into a 2-pack either this year or next as well. Knowing that the line will finish off the unique characters of the vintage line, next years subscription may be the clearest yet, no Fighting Foe Men curve balls can be thrown. To me that's always been the key detraction from this line, the uncertainty of WHO you get each year. Granted I did sign up in the last two years after missing out on characters like Fisto and The Sorceress. I knew that I didn't have much more time to subscribe if I wanted New Adventures He-Man or Mantenna (ironically I got both in the first year I subscribed).
Endings are always sad for lines like this, for all the swapped joints and Ruebenizations of past releases, this line did receive love from the fans all the same. I can't fault Scott too much because deep down, I'm sure he wants all these figures as much as any fan.
A part of me is glad that this line will have an end, I'd rather it go out with a bang of finishing the vintage line than to jump the shark and include characters like Butt-Head or Dragoon in the 2019 subscription. Now I'm sure that this won't be the last we see of the Masters of the Universe, without MOTUC it will live on in the DC comic title and possibly a new film (if that ever comes together). SDCC is also another route for MOTUC, maybe it can live on in some respects as a convention toyline. With all that said, I don't think MattyCollector could end any toyline as badly as they did for DCUC or JLU again.
